The Struggles Hidden in Plain Sight
Behind the welcoming neighborhoods, beautiful homes, and appearance of suburban prosperity lies a reality that often goes unnoticed. Many single-parent families are quietly struggling with the devastating effects of trauma, domestic violence, divorce, separation, financial hardship, and overwhelming emotional burdens—often without the support or resources they desperately need.
Across Katy, Richmond, Rosenberg, Mission Bend, Fulshear, Missouri City, Sugar Land, Needville, and surrounding communities, single mothers make extraordinary sacrifices to protect their children, keep their families together, and create stability amid uncertainty. Their struggles may be invisible to their neighbors, but their need for compassion, understanding, and meaningful support is very real.
Katy Cares was born from a simple but powerful conviction: no single-parent family should have to face life’s most difficult seasons alone. What began as a heartfelt response to the hidden struggles of mothers and children in our communities has grown into a mission of hope and healing—providing compassionate care, trauma-informed counseling, evidence-based programs, and practical support that help families rebuild their lives, rediscover their strengths, and move toward a brighter, more stable future.

A Vision for What’s Possible
We hope that every single parent who walks through the doors of Katy Cares will leave feeling empowered and equipped to step into a better future—not just for themselves, but for their children, their relationships, and their communities. We want those newly learned skills, confidence, and resilience to ripple outward, touching every part of their lives and those of everyone around them.
Because when a single mother finds her footing, an entire family begins to heal.
Where Single-Parent Families Find Hope and Healing
Since 2016, Katy Cares has walked alongside single-parent families—particularly single mothers—during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives. We know that when a family is disrupted by domestic violence, divorce, separation, financial hardship, or a life-altering crisis, the weight of rebuilding can feel impossible to carry alone.
That’s why we exist.
Our dedicated team of founders, board members, staff, donors, volunteers, and community experts has built a network of support designed around one simple belief: every single-parent family deserves a path back to stability, purpose, and hope.

Where We Meet
We come to the communities we serve. Programs are offered at our dedicated therapeutic facility as well as in spaces provided by churches, nonprofits, schools, community centers, and small group leaders’ home—wherever families feel safe and supported.
A Journey Toward a Better Future
Participants in our Programs don’t just survive—they discover their unique purpose, develop new skills, and begin building a stronger future for themselves and their children. It starts with one step, and Katy Cares is here to walk alongside them every step of the way.
Success comes through each parent’s commitment to personalized programs based on their family’s needs assessment. Beyond addressing immediate needs, we offer opportunities for skill development, educational advancement, and community connections through comprehensive support groups.
Every parent who completes an Individualized Development Program (IDP) will have developed essential skills and achieved therapeutic milestones, empowering them to move forward confidently.
Donations to Katy Cares help us continue our mission, enhancing our capacity to positively impact the lives of single parents and their children and ensure our long-term sustainability.
While most of our participants are single mothers, we welcome single fathers and married parents into our programs. For those unable to commit to the full program, we offer shorter and compact Parenting Workshops as an alternative.
